Letter to the Editor
Shepparton will have new trains and double the number of weekday services under an elected Nationals government.
It’s been widely welcomed by Council, public transport users and the community. All, it seems, except Shepparton MP Suzanna Sheed.
I expected the negative political response we saw in these pages from Labor’s Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan, but not for Ms Sheed to sing from the same hymn book.
Ms Allan and Ms Sheed suggested the $77 million was not enough money.
Both appear to have forgotten this isn’t the only commitment from the Liberal Nationals to improve Shepparton’s public transport.
Our plan to deliver new trains for country Victoria means Shepparton passengers will travel on fast, reliable, comfortable trains if we’re elected in November. It’s all part of our vision to attract jobs and investment to Shepparton as we deliver our plan to grow the whole state – not just Melbourne.
Neither Ms Sheed, nor her Labor mates, have matched this commitment.
The Nationals are focused on getting a better deal for Shepparton.
