Country roads

The Nationals continue to fight for Shepparton roads

The Andrews Labor Government’s shocking neglect of country roads has continued as $1.8 billion was poured into Melbourne roads this week, with Shepparton roads included in those missing out.

Roads across Shepparton are crumbling, dangerous and rife with potholes and other hazards after years of neglect by Daniel Andrews.

Luke O’Sullivan, The Nationals Member for Northern Victoria said "Our country roads are in an unsafe state after two years of neglect by Daniel Andrews."

"Just this week Daniel Andrews has found $1.8 billion to pour into roads in Melbourne’s west but nothing to show for country roads."-

"Country Victoria missed out yet again under the Andrews Labor Government and it simply isn’t good enough."

Mr. O’Sullivan said upgrades were desperately needed on Doyle’s Road, Davies Road, Old Dookie Road and New Dookie Road, among others as the Labor Government again prioritises city roads.

The Liberal-Nationals will always fight for a fair share of roads funding for regional Victoria.

Mr. O’Sullivan called for community members to contribute to the Fix Country Roads, Save Country Lives campaign. Community members are welcome to take part in the project by taking a photo along with the location, the details of the hazard and their name.

"We’ve heard horror stories from Shepparton locals about the state of our roads and something needs to be done about it," Mr. O’Sullivan said.

"Daniel Andrews and his city-centric Government seem to think the state ends in Melbourne. The lack of investment in country roads reflects this and it’s just shameful.

"It is time Daniel Andrews stops putting politics ahead of people and starts showing a real commitment to delivering our people safe roads to drive on"
